About the Artist

Beauty and grit coexist in the urban landscape.  
We tend to walk through our city surroundings, focused only on getting from one place to another as quickly as possible.  When I slow down, details can jump out and demand my attention: streams of bright sunlight finding their way through a tangle of dense concrete structures, a dramatically cracked facade, a drummer playing for no one on a busy corner.  
A careful look inevitably reveals additional discoveries about the built environment and the human and natural presence that brings it to life.  
I often find faithfulness to the 'facts' to be inadequate in capturing these scenes in a print. By emphasizing or relocating various elements, I am better able to express the feeling of the scene and my reaction to it.
